Our story
Brazilian coffee from small local growers
We source our coffee from small local growers in Brazil and roast it in Brazil, close to where it's grown — then ship it to you in the U.S.
Damata is a family business. We sell three single-origin Brazilian coffees and Pocket Brew, a single-serve pour-over, to people in the United States — and the same coffee in bulk to cafés, coffee trucks and short-term rentals. (Damata — Portuguese for “of the forest”.)

Why Brazil
Every coffee we sell is Brazilian, bought from small local growers. Our Honey lot grows in the mountains of Espírito Santo at about 900 metres (2,950 ft); the others come from farms higher still, between roughly 3,600 and 3,870 feet. Altitude is the reason those lots taste the way they do — it slows the cherry down and concentrates the sugars.
Brazil is usually sold as the safe, bulk option. The lots we buy are the opposite of that: specialty-grade Arabica, scored between 82 and 89 points on the SCA scale — the kind you drink without sugar.
Roasted in Brazil
The coffee is roasted in Brazil, close to where it is grown, rather than shipped green and roasted months later on another continent.
We bring coffee from Brazil in small batches twice a month, so it typically reaches you within 2–3 weeks of roasting — rested, degassed through the bag's one-way valve, and right in its ideal window to brew.
You choose whole bean or ground. Orders leave within 24 hours and most U.S. deliveries arrive in three to five business days.

The three coffees
- Gourmet82 SCA
- Heavy-bodied and pronounced in its sweetness, with dark chocolate and hazelnut. The one to start with.
- Honey88 SCA
- Full-bodied and honeyed, from Espírito Santo. Comforting and classic — a step up from supermarket coffee without going exotic.
- Carbonic Maceration89 SCA
- Fermented under carbonic maceration and lightly roasted: silky, long-finishing, with red and tropical fruit and an acidity closer to wine.
Alongside them sits Pocket Brew: a filter pre-loaded with the same specialty coffee that needs nothing but hot water and a cup.
